Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, Irrelevant

Talking to reporters after the royal audience, Bhattarai said, “The process of dialogue has started. Democracy will certainly return in the country.”

The veteran Congress leader who is out of active politics for sometime said he was against the idea of election to the constituent assembly as well as the roadmap of the seven opposition political parties for ‘total democracy’. He said his interaction with the King was focussed on how the constitution of the 1990 could be activated.

Asked if the King was ready to cede power, Bhattarai remarked in his token light-hearted manner, “No one in power would want to give up power.”

He also made clear that he was a royalist. “I am a royalist. I am to listen to what the King has to say,” he said before entering the palace.

These Bahuns are so utterly predictable. If you have seen one, you have seen them all. (Surya Subedi, Not A Democrat, Subedi Surya, Not Surya Subedi)

After Bhattarai became Prime Minister in 1990, he went on a visit to India. There journalists asked him as to why Madhesis were not part of the army in Nepal. He said it is because Madhesis are cowards.

This revolution is also a Madhesi revolution against the Krishna Prasad Bhattarai school of thought. (Aire Gaire Natthu Khaire Pahadis)

One can be a Bahun and be a democrat, a social progressive. But there is nothing progressive about Bahunbad. Krishna Prasad Bhattarai is a Bahunbadi. This is a revolution against Bahunbad.

"Glorious Revolution" of Nepal It is 1685 AD. After a prosperous reign of 25 years, King Charles II of Britain, who recalled the Parliament that had had been dissolved for 7 years, dies. His brother, James II succeeds him and, shortly then after, tries to bring back absolute monarchy and savagely suppresses rebellion. Fed up with the new monarch, the political parties of the time, in 1688, launched what later became known as the Glorious Revolution, forced the King to give up his crown and chose James's daughter as the new monarch. The Parliament thereby proved itself more powerful than the Crown, and enshrined in a Bill of Rights, ended divine right and absolute monarchy in Britain.
