NSP (A) leader Tripathi arrested; Pradip Nepal released

Police arrested general secretary of Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Anandi Devi), Hridayesh Tripathi, immediately he returned to Kathmandu from New Delhi, India, on Sunday.

Tripathi was arrested from Naya Baneshwor area, NSP (A) sources said.

Meanwhile, the authorities released CPN (UML) Standing Committee member Pradip Nepal who was detained at the Armed Police Force battalion at Duwakot, Bhaktapur, considering his worsening health conditions.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and other rights groups had, after monitoring the condition of detainees in various detention centres in the Kathmandu Valley, stated that some leaders including Nepal had not been getting medical treatment.

Issuing a statement after release, Nepal expressed gratitude to human rights groups and the media for expressing concern for his health.
