Press Release

On October 14, 2006, the Association of Nepali Teraian in America
(ANTA), New York chapter, and Hamro Nepal, "world's first digital
democracy organization," organized an interaction program with three
visiting Madhesi political leaders, Anil Jha, number three in the
Nepal Sadbhavana Party, Ratneshwar Goit, one of the only four of the
64 central committee members of the CPN (UML), and Aftab Alam of the
Nepali Congress who earned more votes than anyone else in the country
in the last parliamentary elections held. The event was organized in
Prospect Park, Brooklyn, New York City, in an outdoors setting. Prem
Suwal of the Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party also attended, as did Rambabu
Dhakal of the Nepal Mission to the UN. Lunch was served.

ANTA NYC President Binay Shah and Hamro Nepal founding president
Paramendra Bhagat took the lead during the question answer session.
Shah emphasized the need for a Madhesi caucus in the parliament so as
to rally around a common minimum program of the Madhesis. Bhagat asked
Goit why only four of the 64 central committee members of the UML were
Madhesi when there should be more like 25 or 30. He asked Alam if
there was a chance some Madhesi some day will become Nepali Congress
president. He asked Jha why the Sadbhavana talked only of Madhesi
rights and did not address casteism and sexism in the Terai, and Dalit
and Janajati rights.

Suwal suggested Nepal's capital be shifted from Kathmandu to Chitwan.
Suwal is the last elected Mayor of Bhaktapur.

Hey...you didn't reply...I have heard that you are a terrorist...is that true?

A Nepali person told me that. Although I have no ideas about Nepal.
